Michelin equips its tires with chips

Michelin will soon begin installing RFID processors on its tires, and by 2023, all new tires from that manufacturer will be fitted with membranes.

This will enable drivers to better monitor tire wear and it will be possible to determine more accurately whether it is inflated or not.

According to Autoblog, Michelin is currently working with carmakers on algorithms that will allow wireless connection of chips to tires and computers to cars.

Tire details will be displayed on the trip computer.

However, this is only part of the functionality. Tire processors will also help the active safety system work better.

For example, depending on age and tire wear, as well as whether it is winter or summer, the operation of the automatic braking system in cars will be adjusted.
