Forget the Passat, the Volkswagen ID.6 electric is already coming

Volkswagen R&D chief Frank Welch has confirmed the arrival of this model.

It will be a production version of the ID Vision concept, and will bear the ID label. 6.

Let's say, what most people are most interested in, is when this car will come out on. All indications are that this will happen in the third quarter of 2023, when the model should hit the scene.

Let us repeat what is known now. Electric cars include batteries, which are already known to offer a range of up to 700 km in the larger version (84 kWh).

This model with only 10 minutes of charging will cover a distance of about 230 km.

If we return to performance, estimates are that a rear-wheel drive version with an electric motor and an AWD version with two electric motors will be offered.

And for the latter, Welch claims that it will reach 100 km / h in 5.6 seconds, while the weaker one will need two more seconds (8.5 s).

The new model will be compatible with the current Passat in terms of external dimensions.

However, intelligent architecture and electrical steering will bring significantly better space, ostensibly at the level of the forgotten Phaeton today, Autocar has learned.
